Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the sole Canadian part of the Season 1 cast. Her appearance was limited to once or twice. It has been her main cast part of the cast ever since. In response to questions about her character in the show and if there are any similarities to her own life outside the cameras, Brugel stated that she drew on her own experiences with racism to relate to how the Marthas are being treated. "I haven't used the same experience in her position as the Martha but as I say, my past instances where I felt like I'm being stifled by circumstances because of race." There hasn't been any physical assaults by anyone else due to my race, however I've definitely experienced verbal abuse. The kind of racist slurs that feel like an actual hit or impact on me can be utilized in my show when a character makes a statement that feels hard and biting.
