Her close friend Angela lost her life through a fatal car accident at the age of 15 years old. It was a very difficult time for Mitchell and her song Angel on her debut album was written for Angela. Her book Chicken Soup of the Preteen Soul as well as her 7th Heaven episode, Nothing Endures But Change also mentions the incident.
