Lexis did her homework at home during her entire high school career. The school accepted her by Louisiana State University by September 2012. Her first game was from a young age and she became the youngest golfer to be selected for the US Women's Open at the age of 12 in 2007. It was not a win but she did finish second that year after winning the Aldila Junior Classic. She was the youngest American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) athlete to take home the championship, in addition to taking home the Westfield Junior PGA Championship as the youngest player to do in the same year.
