Adele

AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7 in 2010) was an American singer, actress and dancer who was featured in films during the 1940s and 1950s and in television during the 1950s, 1960s and then later. Under the professional name Adele St. Mara, she won a contract with Columbia Pictures [citation required] and gained experience working in the studio's "B" films and comedy shorts. Soon, this was shortened to Adele Mara. Mara started her professional career as a receptionist for the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire movie You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks plays the lead female character in Alias Boston Blackie (1942), playing the sister of an wrongly charged and released convict. The film was released by Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was ended. There she worked in films based on westerns and outdoor adventures. [citation needed] She starred in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch with John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima in which John Agar was John's love interestis played by John Wayne, California Passage and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
